This is an excellent phone and I really like it! It’s cheap (as compared to an iPhone) and it’s fast and I can do most things on it that I would normally do on my computer.. So now I don’t need to go and switch on my laptop that often! The software is very user friendly as I was able to start using this phone within 2 days of receiving it. The QWERTY keypad is easy to use and has given me the freedom to type text messages, as I prefer it to having a touch screen. The battery does need to be charged everyday, but it can last a day and a half without charging (while using the full functionality of the phone). The SD card on it was about 3GB but I guess this can be expanded by buying a new card with more capacity.All in all, a very good buy and at a good price from Amazon! Thanks!

The Cha Cha replaced a Sony Xperia Mini Pro which I was not at all happy with. I stuck with it for three months and then moved on the to HTC Cha Cha. My main reason for buying this mobile was I needed another mobile with a proper QWERTY keyboard. Compared to the Sony it’s lightning quick, especially when using the Internet on 3G. Battery longevity is not too bad. A full day with average use.HTC aftermarket service is very good, unlike Sony. You can actually phone them and speak to somebody very quickly.Camera is pretty good, auto focus is a nice touch, and HTC provide lots of free goodies to load on the phone once you register with them. (There is an HTC app available that turns the camera LED flash into a torch).Overall, this is a well thought out mobile, easy to use and has all the facilities I need. It is however quite a large phone and if you are looking for a dinky slim mobile this will not suit you. It’s pretty big and fairly heavy. You could say it feels well built. It’s about the same size as a Blackberry.One thing that is not easy though is removal of the rear case to insert your sim card. It’s pretty tight.Well worth a five star rating though.

Not having a Facebook account I was still interested to see what all the fuss was about. I was pleasantly surprised to find an entertaining and informative, if not historically accurate version of events. A good tale of vision, creation, friendship and betrayal.

I was fortunate to have a book published. I am of the age where I would have viewed Facebook as something that my daughters would regard as essential and more their area of expertise. However my publisher suggested that I should start a “Fan Page !” , so I decided that I had better try to get my head round it, as we say up north. Reading this book gave me confidence and also was a fair introduction to the more exciting things that more active businesses can do. To be fair I don’t suppose anyone who relies on sales can afford to ignore this medium any more than the young can. One tiny note which is always a problem – this book was written in 2007 and though it does have its own web support page I suspect that Facebook is moving so quickly that printed books – a bit like the electrical shop “if it’s in stock then it’s obsolete” can soon be out of date. So, the page was up and running in no time and I know that if I keep dipping into this book, then I will understand just a little more, each day. I now even have one fan though I suspect that is just the publisher !

This is a very well made film but with Aaron Sorkin involved, who would expect anything else: he really is the master of a fast paced gritty script as anyone who has viewed The West Wing would agree. You get the inside, albeit, non validated, account of what Jesse Eisenberg was really like – and some of it’s not too good but there’s something for everyone in this film, whether you’re a social network geek or just an old timer who wants to find out what makes networking so popular.

behind the ridiculous name is a cracking phone, 22 July 2011

Cha Cha? Could they really not think of anything better to call it? Really?Get the ridiculous name and there is a very impressive phone.Firstly, the look – the first thing it reminded me of was one of those scientific calculators that I wasnt allowed to take into my GCSE’s many years ago, it has got a certain retro chic about it though but it’s not the most manly of phones.It’s main selling point is the keyboard, perfect for us of a certain age who cant handle this new fangled touch screen thing, it feels really substantial and makes texting/emailing a wonderfully simple experience – one minor quibble – the spacebar is a touch small.Reading reviews online it seems that the main criticism is the screen size, sure it’s not the biggest but it’s perfectly adequate with great definition, I certainly wouldnt have wanted a bigger screen at the expense of the keyboard – I suppose it depends on what your priorities are as to which you would prefer. The touch screen is responsive and a pleasure to use.So, onto internet use – it’s fast and smooth and handles the majority of websites without a problem. Yes sometimes you have to zoom in/out of some pages but that simply isnt an issue to me and if youre after an all singing and dancing internet experience you shouldnt really be looking at a phone that is geared to text/email/social networking.Talking of social networking, onto the facebook button – if youre a regular poster on fb then its fantastic – letting you post pretty much anything in 1 button press.Battery life is better than average for an Android smart phone, easilly lasts the day with pretty heavy use. It charges quickly too.As, at the end of the day, it is actually a phone I’ll mention the call experience – its been perfect since I’ve had the phone, no problems at all with reception or call quality – certainly better than my previous nokia and sony (which the cha cha replaced).2 minor quibbles. The charger lead gets in the way of the keyboard if you use it when charging and the screen suffers if used in bright light/sun – these are very very minor though and dont stop me giving this 5 stars and my highest recommendation.Angry Birds works brilliantly too.

Like many people, I was actively resistant to the idea of watching a movie telling the story of Facebook. Smarmy frat-house brats high-fiving as they hunch around a computer screen with a few “brewskis” – becoming billionaires en route – sounded like a recipe for the most teeth-grindingly awful movie ever: Porky’s for Dorks, if you will. I went reluctantly.Thank God I did though. I should have had more faith in David Fincher – he’s a smart enough film maker to realise that this movie would only ever work if it focused on the genuinely extraordinary, which in this case means the birth of a new way of interacting, and the personalities that brought it into existence. This would be more than enough material to make an interesting film, but Aaron (West Wing) Sorkin’s script also brings in issues of class, the generational divide, intelligence, money and the new economy. What results is a riveting, fast-paced film about the excitement of new ideas, the intoxicating rush of the succesful dot com, and the almighty high of billions of dollars, all channelled through something which all of us are familiar with and can relate to. Nothing less, then, than that rarest of beasts, a film which successfully addresses The Times In Which We Live.The film’s (already famous) opening scene shows Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) being dumped by his girlfriend, and from this we immediately learn several key things – Zuckerberg is possessed of an unapologetic, almost Asperger’s-level intelligence; and he is terrible at human interaction. Zuckerberg takes revenge on his ex online, by setting up a website enabling fellow Harvard students to rate female students by attractiveness, and while this stunt earns him an academic suspension, it also brings him to the attention of his peers, some of whom have ideas for websites of their own. And so begins the story of Facebook; Zuckerberg’s vision, but possibly not his idea.All the performances are remarkable, though the three main male leads – Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake – are nothing short of outstanding. Doubtless the real story was duller, more ragged and more painful, but in focusing on the emotional truth of the story Fincher and Sorkin have created a brilliant and entertaining fable for our times. Shame that women barely figure in it at all, apart from as heartless bitches or sex objects, but you can’t have everything. Recommended.

Not quite what I was expecting but still OK, 22 April 2009

I thought this book would get straight into developing Facebook Applications (i.e. code/php/mysql) but this is not covered until much later in the book. Still a useful book but the introductory material I thought shouldn’t have been included in a Facebook Applications book.
